Steamed lapu lapu - Chinese-style |
Ingredients:
300 g lapu-lapu (grouper fish)
1 tbsp sesame oil
3 tbsp lemon juice extract (you may use calamansi juice, if you want)
1 tbsp honey
5 tbsp kikoman soy sauce
2 tbsp spring onion, cut into half inch length
coriander, chopped
ginger, thinly sliced and crushed (for steaming)
salt
ground pepper
1 tbsp cooking oil
How to make chinese-style steamed lapu lapu
- Clean the lapu-lapu and rub it with salt and pepper.
- Place it on a steamer (with crushed ginger in the boiling water) and let it steam for about 30 minutes.
- While steaming the fish, mix the soy sauce, lemon juice extract, honey and sesame oil in a bowl. Set aside.
- Remove the fish from the steamer and put it on a plate.
- Sprinkle the fish with spring onion, coriander and ginger.
- Slowly pour the sauce mixture (lemon, soy, honey, sesame oil) all over the fish.
- On another pan, overheat the cooking oil then pour it over the fish to sear the ginger and spring onion.
- Serve and enjoy!
Note: This is a re-post from my other blog. However, I tried it again recently but instead of using sesame oil, I used olive oil (ran out of sesame oil, that's why). It's still good, I just don't know if it can still be called Chinese-style...hehe.
Servings: good for 1-2
Cost: Around 250 Php (updated as of June, 2019)
