If you are working in Makati, chances are you have tried or at least you are familiar with the tin-colored stalls that offer ready-to-eat food -- be it breakfast, lunch, merienda or dinner. These tin-colored stalls are popularly known as jollijeeps. Jollijeep is coined from the words Jollibee (a popular fast food chain) and jeepney (a Filipino mode of transportation) as these food stalls used to be a mobile food store.

In the Legazpi area, jollijeeps are located in Palanca, Rada and Esteban Streets; at least, those I've tried. In this area, there are three jollijeeps that stand out and are most flocked by the Makati workforce. These are Sisig Rada (obviously in Rada Street), Palanca Liempo and Mang Lirio's, both in Palanca Street.

Of these three stalls, Sisig Rada I guess, is the most popular in terms of online reach. It is widely mentioned in many social media platforms and even foreigners have written about their sisig (a Filipino dish usually made from pig's ear, jowl and liver). Sisig Rada is just in front of our office building and I can see from above, the long lines of people waiting for their sisig to be served. The waiting time usually takes around 30 minutes. I've tried their sisig several times and it's good (especially if you are fond of richly seasoned oily dish), although I must admit, I'm no fan of fatty foods. I only order it when cravings attack, which is one or twice a year, maybe.

Palanca Liempo, the other equally popular and flocked food stall in Legazpi, is where we go more frequently (frequent for me is once a month or once every two months). This food stall serves crispy and tasty fried liempo (pork belly). It is served with soy sauce, calamansi and chili but it can be eaten as it is because it's already tasty. Palanca Liempo doesn't have a fixed serving size, you can order anywhere from 40 Php up to 100 Php (could be higher, if you want) and they will serve you a portion worthy of your money. If you're fond of veggies, they serve veggies too, for mere 10 Php.

The last but definitely NOT the least popular stall most flocked by the Makati workforce (and residents, probably) nearby is Mang Lirio's. Mang Lirio's offer meals neatly presented and packed in a paper lunch box. My favorite Mang Lirio meal is tuna sisig partnered with any veggie of the day. I also love his buko pandan as it has lots of coconut meat than jellies (unlike other buko pandan in restaurants where there's only 1-3 buko strips, all the rest are jellies and pearls). Other popular dishes of Mang Lirio's are caldereta, roast beef, baked or roasted chicken, tofu sisig (a former office mate's favorite) and many more.

Of the three jollijeeps, Mang Lirio's has the most expensive meal (price starts at 80 Php) of all; liempo starts at 40 Php while sisig starts at 60 Php. These three jollijeeps are equally popular in my opinion; they cannot be compared with each other as they serve different kind of dishes that are unique and special to each one of them. Also, they are all flocked with customers that standard waiting time of all three is around 30 minutes. So if you happen to be in or near Legazpi area in Makati, check out these three jollijeeps and experience how it is to live and work in Makati.
